Question

How are BD executives/directors performing lately in large enterprise (quota, WC, etc)?

Also, do these guys get warm leads brought to them or do they have to do all the reach and meeting-getting? I’m at MSE right now and it’s pretty cushy so may get a bit of a culture shock

I’ve just left Gartner - BDs are performing poorly this year, lower than 50% goal attainment so far.

All outreach is cold and no tangible warm leads will come through for you. Very much a hunter role at Gartner

No warm leads at Gartner. They have a terrible company that sends leads that are useless.  Now is not the time to join Gartner. Read stock market analysts comments on Gartner lately.. this is why. We are selling a dinasaur.

Garner does not invest in marketing and lead generation, you’ll be tasked to succeed with very little in the way of support. Additionally, you can expect stringent micromanagement and poor leadership as the business is struggling bigtime

If you are in mse you can look at the stack rankings for the business you want to go into. Mixed bag. If you’re in BD now I’d say similar but territory dependent.

Warm leads? Not me personally, ever. Some get a bdx I’ve heard that’s a 100k quota increase for more meetings but 0 revenue generated.

Large enterprise is an absolute mess. New leadership took over about two years ago and the culture has become absolutely toxic as the business fails to deliver value to clients and are facing innumerable cancellations. Micromanagement and PIPs are the norm so managers can act like they’re working.
