I received a job offer from OpenText for a new team in cyber security. I think they just acquired a new company. The reviews here are not good. I'm going in as a BDR essentially. How is quota attainment? Do they really churn and burn reps?

Based on my own experience and industry observations, Company has a rich history and a strong presence in the market. However, like any large organization, they are navigating a dynamic and competitive landscape, which can sometimes present challenges in terms of organizational structure and leadership.

It's important to be aware that company has been undergoing a period of significant transformation, including the acquisition of Micro Focus. This can sometimes present challenges in terms of integration and adapting to new processes and technologies. This is also reflecting in the way investors outlook and stock price sentiment. Open Text is not a leader in Cyber Security Space and there are many other strong contenders.

I would advise you to prioritize building strong relationships within your team and across departments. Active engagement and open communication will be key to your success.

OpenText is not inherently a bad company. Some key suggestions;
-develop good rapport with recruiter, they will always be a good resource
- make sure you understand and have good rapport with your manager and understand expectations, opportunities for carer growth, potential challenges.

OpenText is a good company and the Cyber Security team has a lot of focus and resources dedicated to it.  A BDR role is always tough, but you will be provided every opportunity to succeed and if you do, you will be provided opportunities for promotion.  You will need to work hard for it though.

It's a good company at the BDR level. but expect quarterly layoffs across the organization. they buy solutions, milk them for renewals with little innovation, and fire the reps when you're not selling their dated products.

Depends on what product. For the most part, many of the cyber solutions have been decimated from a sales and developer standpoint. They don't understand the enterprise game in cyber. It is also a very DEI / WOKE company. While they have spent significantly on cyber, many products have zero innovation. At the BDR level, you will get some good training, learn new tools and find out where to go for your next role in the company. Also, stack rankings etc are designed to eliminate higher paid employees. Go there, learn as much as you can and move on.

The company is going all in on making this division successful. In fact, the SVP running this group has a long history of building successful teams. Great guy and leader. I would jump at the chance to work in this fast growing business unit.

i was there when it was micro focus.  not aware of what is going on there now   i do know last summer they had layoffs into the thousands.  good luck.

Quota attainment on that team is ~70% of reps hitting quota. They have just promoted a lot of team members as they are building the corporate sales team (I know 3-4 who moved into sales or presales roles). I work on another vertical, but I know a lot of the cyber ADEs and they all seem great
