Safe to assume OCI is the BU to be in if you want to really max out earning potential? Is all this AI spend evenly distributed across territories - or does its accrue to only a handful of Key Account / Strat Reps and they're the only ones cashing in?

I’m on the OCI team. The bigger AI wins were with strategic accounts like NVIDIA and Meta to name a few. But the commercial and core AI team got some really solid wins as well with cloud native companies. It really depends on your territory. Enterprises have a different relationship with AI.

Oracle just consolidated their reps to Data Platform and OCI. OCI is responsible for IaaS and AI consumption and Data Platform is responsible for all PaaS and on-prem spend. Enterprise type customers have not adopted the IaaS business as much as the cloud native side who required high performance infrastructure and GPUs. I do believe both prime reps are set up for success in the future. Oracle allowing databases to be ran on Oracle infrastructure inside of hyperscaler data centers will be a massive market for Data Platform reps.

Territory is everything at Oracle. You can still make great money selling on-prem, especially with legacy customers. OCI is growing fast, but not every account is ready for it. If you’re joining a team with mostly senior reps, expect to inherit the leftovers, account list makes or breaks your year.

I would say, territory, vertical and front line manager are keys to success at Oracle.  Do your research, talk to people that will be on your team and ask the direct questions, how many people are making their number.  If it's greenfield, be ready to dig in and invest at least a full year in building out the territory and pipeline because you will most likely have nothing when you are walking into the job.
