What should someone know before starting a sales position at Oracle?

Find someone who knows the systems and processes and where the bodies are buried so you can navigate the maze.  Be prepared for changes, even before the FY ends, new processes, new specialist and team members.  Be prepared to hear that customers are beyond exhausted by how many reps call on them and how often they change.  Territory and Manager are key and that's pure luck.

Use the greater Oracle like a channel. Find out what other Oracle products are being sold into your accounts and try to value add to those existing contracts

Oracle is a very reputation based company, the best opportunities are given to those that have the best internal rep.   It may take some wins, and time for you to be considered for the teams that get to pursue the bigger opportunities.

If you’re going in at entry level role such as a BDC right out of college the package will be good but once you get promoted the raises are very small.  They incrementally do them if you perform well and even the top earners will only get small raises. It causes many people to leave.

Unless you're going through the business development program, which is top-notch, I wouldn't suggest working for Oracle. Been with them for over 6 years and am on the chopping block after missing quota once. You're a number and they do not care about you. They may not say it publicly but their success has been bumped up by cutting jobs of late, not selling. SAP is killing us in ERP and SCM, Salesforce probably laughs when they hear they are competing against us, and our HCM product is not very good either. I can't speak for tech cloud/database side of the house as I have been SaaS applications since day one but most of the deals there are purely audits and compliance. Oracle primarily makes money by bullying customers which is in turn driving customers away. Nearly half of all the renewals I have worked in the past 3 years have been churns (i.e. not renewing at full amount as they attempt to move off of Oracle. Best of luck but I would start looking for other opportunities immediately.
