I'm going through the interview process for an office-based role. Based on your experiences, is it possible to negotiate for remote-flex or fully remote work if I get an offer?

As someone who just had to quit because I moved away from an office...probably not an option. Salesforce is going hard on RTO and if the role is listed as office based that is what you should anticipate.

Very unlikely. Salesforce just enforced their 4x RTO. If you’re under the Slack umbrella then maybe. Everyone is back in office even SVP level.

No. This return to office is to help quietly lay people off. Your manager may claim to be flexible, but there is badge tracking done at a higher level so it’s completely out of their control

The company is largely moving away from remote/hybrid to in office, especially if you're by a hub. I'd say it's very low probability to get an offer for in-office and then parlay that into hybrid/remote.

What segment is it? If it's below commercial, even lower chance

The return to office just started yesterday oct 1.  I wouldn’t push it.

Salesforce has issued a return to office notice for pretty much all employees that are not designated remote.  They are really focused on hiring for hubs only at this time, so pretty unlikely you can negotiate fully remote.  It all really depends on your manager and whether they will enforce it or not, but there is a company wide dashboard that shows badge scans as of Oct. 1, so not sure at what level they are looking at this or care.

I'd operate under the assumption you'll be in the office at least 3 days/week.

There is a company mandate that everyone within 30 miles from an office goes in at least 4 times a week.  Depending on your hub, it may not matter as much.

Negotiating an official remote or hybrid terms is highly unlikely.

Depends on the role and your level of tenure. As of 10/1 leadership is pushing for many groups to return to the office, some full time, others a few days a week, while some can remain remote. In Enterprise Sales it's not mandatory.

If the expectation is in-office, its likely never going to be remote.  With that said, I am sure there is ability to WFH some days.

You can try. A few people in my office have this. However, this was negotiated before the RTO virus started spreading. I’m office-based but only go 1-2 times per week. Sometimes not at all when it doesn’t fit my schedule for whatever reason. My manager is in a different office he couldn’t care less.

It’s possible but it depends a lot on your RVP & if you live close to a hub/office because that’s going to be tougher for you. I would have a good talk track around why you want remote or flex. With the push for RTO, you being new and the more technical solutions they will want you in office

Depends on your seniority and the role.  My whole team is remote, but we are all quite senior, and our territories are extremely large.  If this is a core AE or below, you're probably going to the office.
