Why is every Salesforce rep I am connected with on LinkedIn advertising that they are hiring, is this something being mandated by leadership?

They want to make it look to the market like they are 'stable and hiring' -- reality is they are hiring 1000 AEs at the expense of 1200 being actively stack ranked and PIP/PEP'd out of the organization.   So they are actually not hiring 'net new' 1000.    They are consolidating the specialist and eliminating core sellers who are on naughty lists for a variety of reasons based on 3Qs of performance.  They are hoping many will quit-- but they are actively informal to formal coaching out sellers.

Salesforce is pivoting from SKU/volume selling to consumption model solutions like Data Cloud and AgentForce-- they want sellers that can sell in that way.  Salesforce can recognize revenue Day 1 on consumption to help them improve their margins/bottomline.

They also want 'new blood' aka doesn't know how good it used to be and won't question the current motion-- if you can bury your integrity or are okay participating in daily 'shiny toys' while saying well it could be worse; If you are mgmt synchophant, don't mind kissing first line on up's fragile egos-- you'll do great-- just know it's at the expense of your reputation and customer-- then this is the job for you.

As an AE,  you will have to contend with many accounts are have excessive shelfware, looking to attrit and lower total commit, who are not yet as confident as Mr. Benioff on the actual product quality of the consumption solutions which are very much sitting on shelf  today or technology dependent meaning customer has to buy 2-3 other Salesforce products to make the new one work--  Many customers are due to the legal landscape are figuring out how to govern AI so legal amendments are elongating sales cycles; and right now many of the new solutions are not delivering value compared to the cost or the support challenges.

Know you'll be selling in a Hunger Games environment where panic and chaos have been the norm since Nov 2022-- where even the most talented and high-performers are now being executed after years of high performance.  If you aren't on a 'favorite' account, no matter how well you do chances of being promoted are becoming less as they are forced to get less top-heavy.  The days of 'everyone gets a title' is over and even long-tenured leaders are being shoved out of their jobs or quietly let go--

DEI is OUT the window despite what you think you see in 'diversity' and many are ruled by the current 'leadership' which is really who can curry the most favors with the CEO.

The customer is no longer the center of what they do -- it's the art of shoving them around  and rewriting contracts-- and many customers are NOT happy.    No doubt if they can pivot they will do well- but it's a question of whether or not you want to sell in that environment.
