Terrible experience as a Slack AE. No possibility to sell the product to prospects (no inbound leads) and to existing customers because of internal cultural bias. No GTM strategy on Slack. Very difficult competition with Teams. Terrible quotas: more than 900K, when you have an average deal size of 10K and sales cycle of 6-9 months plus a greenfield territory (lack of brand awareness). The company is also undergoing layoffs and hiring freeze (Slack BU changed 3 CEOs in the last 2 years).

Not a terrible experience per se. The market is tough. The combination of a tight economy and AI disruption is creating a lot of unknowns. Skeptical buyers and brand new unproven products do not result in an easy sell. There is optimism but it is too early to rely on tried and true predictable outcomes.
