Current Employee Shopify’s retail sales org has been a mixed bag. On the positive side, the brand recognition is strong, the product resonates with SMBs and startups, and there’s opportunity to close meaningful deals with merchants who are excited about the platform.
That said, the retail segment has struggled recently with high churn, constant comp changes, and frequent manager turnover. These shifts have made it difficult to build consistency and stability in pipeline growth and performance. While there are talented people on the team and some great wins to be had, the constant changes to structure and leadership have created challenges in hitting targets and planning long-term.
