It has struggled to scale culturally as do all big companies, and the presales role has largely been outsourced to sales overlays and industry specialists, meaning the presales person is more and more told to just show up and do the demo. That is good if you want to be that kind of sales consultant but if you want to be strategic the sales teams are too bloated.
That said, workday is still a dominant factor in the market and the OTE is legit and not just a ploy to get you to join. Workday has always respected diversity and has done a decent job prioritizing it over the years even if the tech sales space is predominantly male and white. Lots of female leadership in presales, and lots of internal mobility up the management chain or into sales if you want that route. Just beware that this company no longer feels at all like a startup anymore.
I’m grateful for my time at workday and urge anyone without prior presales experience to join and learn there. For seasoned presales professionals, consider what kind of sc you want to be.
