monday.com was incredible place to work for a very long time. Positioned as a "commission free" sales org, monday.com offered high base salaries and a twice-yearly bonus, as well as ubiquitous support and some of the smartest, kindest people in the industry. It was a unicorn of a company that I was deeply proud to be a part of. In the last year, leadership's race to hit a $10 billion ARR milestone has resulted in growth at all costs, including the culture that had been painstakingly built since its inception. Quota increases, account list decreases, plummeting morale, an increase of PIPs, and cut throat behavior from reps and managers alike are now the norm in an environment that used to promote mutual success and interdepartmental collaboration. Inexperienced leadership among middle managers, C-suite turning a blind eye to the pendulum of economic headwinds affecting the marketplace has turned a utopian workforce into a shark tank. Changing the comp model and enforcing strict, unrealistic performance improvement plans has been a way for this floundering sales organization to avoid layoffs and protect it's reputation on the street, to no avail given the recent drop in stock price.
