As an MDR - promotion is rewarded based on politics - not tenure or performance, this is coming from someone with all three. AWS leadership wanted to incentivize high performance which seemed to have backfire on them - there are only 2 or 3 consistent high performers in Majors crushing it, and in my vertical only 2/14 reps have hit every single month in FY 26. To succeed you need a manager that will shield you from politics.
