Are there any "verticals" to stay away from? I've heard HLS is one you want to stay away from. Which are the top verticals you'd want to pursue?

Quotas are matched so it does not really matter.  Some would say that a potentially more challenging vertical is better because it will have a lower quota.   What you have to keep in mind is that wall st has very intelligent people and systems setup to make sure they pay the least amount of money for the most amount or productivity.  No vertical is immune from that.  Less than %50 of the reps at the company made quota this past year and in a good year, it is still less than 55%.   The more important question is which boss can you be most successful with.  Manager is 10X more important that anything else.

TTH (travel transport and hospitality) was awful, on average only 2/12 of us would hit quota a month

It depends year in and year out. FINS has been growing a ton, Core is the largest businesses unit and will always churn the most money. RCG and HLS has struggled.

HLS SMB is difficult depending on your area and what your role is (BDR easier than AE).

Interesting question, it depends on the segment as well as the vertical. They have ESB, SMB, GRB, MM, GB and Enterprise.

For HLS if you are selling Health Cloud into MM and above then you are good. Equally important is the partner network, who do they have in your GEO that has implemented Health Cloud? This is important to avoid clawback, ensuring a fast time to value and quick upsell.

I haven't worked there in 3 years but at the time segments broke out as follows by employee count:
ESB: 1 - 17
SMB: 18 - 74
GRB: 75 - 249
MM: 249 - 999
GB: 1,000 - 1,999
Enterprise: 2,000+

It really depends on which product at SF you are selling. For example, I’d stay away from manufacturing with MC. Definitely a tougher sell to b2b

Depending on your location FINS seems to be doing well. Not in Germany though. Here, Tech and Manufacturing are good Verticals to be in.
