Current Employee If you’re thinking about joining Salesforce as an SDR, take this as a sign: don’t. The only real upside is the brand name on your resume — that’s it. Management are completely out of touch with the day-to-day realities of the job. Recently, they moved the entire SDR team to SMB, which is a TERRIBLE fit for Salesforce (HubSpot and Zoho have that cornered). You won’t be working on high-value accounts or real opportunities.
The quotas are absurd and completely disconnected from actual effort. SDRs are measured on ACV, even though we don’t close deals — success here is mostly about luck. So, don’t expect to hit your OTE! What gets rewarded in SDR is gaming the system — booking fake, unconfirmed meetings. That’s what gets recognition, while genuine effort and hard work are overlooked.
The culture? Toxic and clique-driven. If you’re not in with the right people, good luck. Managers offer little to no real coaching or support, so you’re left to figure everything out on your own.
TL;DR: Use Salesforce to get the brand on your resume, but don’t stick around longer than 1-2 years. Get out before you burn out-- and leadership please fix your sales org!
