There have been a lot of changes at Smartsheet in my last year here. Significant changes in leadership, being acquired by a private equity firm, offshoring a lot of the workforce to Costa Rica, and a complete overhaul in how Smartsheet goes to market led to my departure.

I think the recent acquisition by PE is a great unknown but the overall experience at Smartsheet has seen a diminishing horizon of professional growth while, at the same time, leadership has been less inspired and creative and just more arbitrary and fear-based. Pricing and packaging model was an absolute joke and pissed off a number of customers, and was a disaster of a rollout. Very clearly Mader and team only cared about their golden parachute and left the rest of us to deal with their mess. Customers are churning left and right.
