Great talent in seat but Segment has gone through an identity crisis in the last 18 months. No direction from leadership and R&D is playing catch up with the competition

Still a very good org. CDP space is becoming more crowded as players enter the market by way of acquisition or becoming composable personalization tools that are “lightweight CDPs”. Still a place for Segment as they have done a good job of positioning themselves as a market leader.

Too much middle management bloat, too many cooks in the kitchen, unnecessary amount of VPS that do nothing and get paid exorbitant salaries for bad leadership and no results. Overall experience has been a bit chaotic. Feels like working at a startup. Tons of changes for better and for worse. Have witnessed two layoffs in my time here, the founder and CEO leaving, the entire sales org getting restructured, and the quota and KPIs changing. On the positives - good front line management, great culture for the most part, and solid base pay.
