If you can hang with the dogs, you will enjoy your time here. Steep learning curve due to a very technical product, coupled with a luck-of-the-draw management system (some great managers and some micromanage/neglect certain reps), it’s a very sink or swim culture. If you enjoy a young sales floor, you can make an impact here and enjoy yourself, but I’ve also seen many reps last a very short time. The promotion path isn’t the most glamorous but you will become very comfortable with every stage of the deal cycle. Would recommend for an SDR looking to make the CAE jump, especially as a young person, but not necessarily in a different circumstance.

20% of SDRs hit quota and for Commercial AEs about 10%. Even though the numbers are so low, leadership continues to hire and open new teams. Datadog is clinging itself to this hypergrowth phase and hiring way too many reps. Leadership does not care about demotivation, both founders have an engineering background and look down on salespeople.
