Would you consider Gartner a good company to work for? Any advice on the interview process? Are the goals for an Account Executive attainable?

Gartner still has a strong reputation and if you are earlier in your IT sales career it gives you a strong understanding of the priorities of IT exectutives and about strategic sales approach. However you must also be ready to accept hardcore micro management while performing their rigid sales process.

Plan on getting in and getting out.  In my opinion, Gartner has begun a process of forcing out higher paid AE's in favor of younger and lower paid AE's.  I can provide several examples of high performing AE's (myself included) who were forced out and found better opportunities.  One question which keeps coming up is how will Gartner remain relevant in the face of AI.  I have heard this from current employees and from clients who are doubting their value prop.

No.  Don't go to Gartner.  Interview process is the same as most places, several singles, then a presentation to a panel. No, they are not attainable.

The value prop has greatly diminished due to the proliferation of free ai tools that can deliver similar insights to Gartner ($50k/yr per license subscription becomes an extremely hard sell). Management is very micro these days because of consistently missed numbers.

I was an AE there a few years ago and it was a good company to work for, especially if you are new to tech sales.  It provides a good foundation for both the sales process and tech knowledge but is very scripted and heavily process oriented.  If you don't do things their way then you are deemed to not have a "growth mindset".  If you are a seasoned sales exec, steer clear of working here.
