Does anyone have any insight to being an Account Manager at Salesforce? Thinking about making the jump since I am tired of being a AE. Seems like a cushier role but I could be way off the mark.

In my experience there isn't a dedicated AM team. As an AE I had about 20 customer accounts that I was responsible for expansion/upsell and renewals. You're kind of doing both AE & AM work

I've been a CORE Account Executive at SF for several years now. With exception of being a "Renewals Manager", "CORE's" are the closest thing to an Account Manager.  You are the Main POC for an existing customer and have anywhere from 5-100 existing accounts. You're upselling + cross-selling into existing accounts, prospecting, leading the full sales cycle,  etc.   Whereas a Renewals Manager only manages those customers Master Contracts upon renewal. Can you be more specific in what you mean by an Account Manager, as the term isn’t really used? Are you possibly thinking about a Customer Success Manager or Account Director?

At SF it is referred to as Core AE. It really comes down to what acct set you have which can make or break attainment here. The pay can be lucrative but if dropped into all greenfield, it can be challenging and they don’t give much leeway these days. Best of luck!
